Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.
Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?
Gary Stillman, I write under the name G.E. Stills
Fiona: Where are you from?
I’m from Albuquerque, NM
Fiona: A little about your self (ie, your education, family life, etc.).
I’m terrified of heights, so I haven’t braved the tramway ride in my hometown. I live in the southwest while longing to live by the sea. We have the sand here but where is the water?
I’m a multi-published author, my stories cover many genres including contemporary romance, paranormal romance and science fiction. My stories are both erotic and non-erotic in nature.
Fiona: Tell us your latest news.
I currently have a number of WIPs among them is book 7 of my Demons & Witches series.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I’ve written off and on since grade school for my own pleasure, I enjoy writing. The first time I began trying to get published was in 2008. After a lengthy number of submissions, and disappointing rejections, my first book was published in 2009.
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I’ve been a writer most of my live as for a professional writer,I guess that would have to be after I saw my first book advertised for sale.
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
Thoughts of something that happened in my past put into story form and of course embellished.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title?
I usually think up titles for my books based on some eventfrom the story itself.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?
Most of my books contain action, romance and erotica. I write in several different genres but find noneof themany more challenging than another.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Very little is realistic. Some, but few, of my stories are based on past events. I use a few traits of people I know but not the person.
Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?
No most of my travels are confined to internet searching.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
Various artists over the years. Most of the newer covers I do myself.
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Not really, my books are for entertainment and hopefully a temporary escape from reality.
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?
H.K. Carlton is one, I just like her writing. There are many others. My all-timefavourite author is Edgar Rice Burroughs. His books are what got me interested in reading and writing when I was a young boy.
Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.
I’m not going to name names but there have been a lot of friendsthat have encouraged me to write.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
I breath, therefore I write. It’s in my blood.
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
Every time I read one of my books or one of the unpublished stories, I’ve written I want to change things.
Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?
When writing a story, I usually do a lot of research and learn new things all the time. As with most authors, I find it easy to get distracted by research and taken away from writing the story.
Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?
I have a number of characters in my books but on of the actors I’d like to see in a lead part is Kate Beckinsale
Fiona: Any advice for other writers?
Keep writing, don’t get discouraged and don’t let others discourage you.
Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?
First: thank you for reading. Second: please don’t hesitate to contact me and tell me your likes, dislikes or suggestions about any of my books.
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
The No Frat Clause
Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?
First adult book, The Pirates of Venus
Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
Things I read, things I hear, thing I see.
Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?
Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?
I prefer movies over tv series. As to what type it just depends on my mood. I like comedy, action, adventure, romance, mystery but not so much horror.
Fiona: Favorite foods, colors, music?
Tacos, blue, metal rock but listen to a lot of other types.
Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?
Decompose in the ground. 😊
