Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.
Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?
My name is Samantha Swain. And I haven’t told my age since I was 25. Ha!
Fiona: Where are you from?
I’m originally from a suburb of Chicago. I currently reside in a suburb of Atlanta, GA.
Fiona: A little about your self (ie, your education, family life, etc.).
In a sense there’s not much to tell. I graduated high school (never mind the year). I’m the youngest in my family and the only girl. I’m 8 years behind the youngest boy.
Fiona: Tell us your latest news. Well, where should I start?
I have a line of t-shirts on teespring.com. I designed a boardgame. I’m still write’n; my 4th book to be exact. I’m spearhead’s my 1st anthology about ‘secrets’. Each writer on the team is telling a secret. Lastly, I developed a wine. Writers are known to partake; I’m simply providing an option for those that partake.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I recall been a child as my start. Been the youngest in the family written things down became a way of defending myself.
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Professionally, it wasn’t until I became an adult did I consider myself a writer. Until then I just worked.
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
Written was just in me; a natural state. I just went with the flow.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title? Because I’m a writer of true crime, a lot of times book titles may not come to me until I finish a manuscript.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?
I don’t have a particular written style. A challenge is seeking out the realism, which requires a lot of research.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Since I write non-fiction each book is realistic. None based on anyone that I know. None based on events in the life of someone that I know.
Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?
I don’t have to travel.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
Book cover designers are provided through the book publishers.
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Nothing extraordinary to grasp, but I provide stories for those that follow crime shows. It’s an avenue to think.
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?
There are no new authors that I follow, as I stay focused on my writings. Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author. My father, mother, and my daughter come to mind.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
Yes. Yes. Yes. Not only write’n, but all other streams of income.
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
I wouldn’t change anything. Real is real.
Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?
Honestly, I don’t know.
Fiona: Any advice for other writers?
Pick your written lane carefully and comfortably. Go with the process.
Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?
For my writings always put yourself in a position to think.
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
I’m not reading any books currently. My mind remains indulged in all my projects
