Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?

Kiera: My name is Kiera Jayne. You’ll have to guess my age. 😉

Fiona: Where are you from?

Kiera: I live in Brisbane, Australia.

Fiona: A little about yourself (ie, your education, family life, etc.).

Kiera: I am a massive dog lover who is dogless. I am close to my parents who live 2 hours south of me.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news.

Kiera: I just had a cover reveal for my 7th book, Unify: A Marked For Love Thanksgiving.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

Kiera: I began writing at the age of 13 and for years I wrote fan fiction as a way to cope with bullying at school.

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Kiera: 2016

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

Kiera: G.J. Walker-Smith’s Wishes series and a tough breakup.

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

Kiera: Unexpected, because something unexpected happens. The series title, Marked For Love is a play on the main three sisters’ surname, Marks, which was the surname of my friend, Holly, who passed away from cancer at the age of 25.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?

Kiera: I’m not sure if I have a particular writing style. I guess sometimes it borders into the style of women’s fiction, which is my favourite genre. What I find challenging sometimes is the necessary HEA for romance.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Kiera: The experiences aren’t the same, but the characters of Kida and Claire are very much two different sides of my personality.

Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?

Kiera: No.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

Kiera: Soxational Cover Art, Grey Publishing Services and Designed With Grace.

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Kiera: I guess there’s a message in each one, though it isn’t intentional.

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?  Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?

Kiera: G.J. Walker Smith, CJ Duggan, Fiona McIntosh, Diana Gabaldon, Philippa Gregory. None of these are new authors.

Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.

Kiera: My co-author, E Kay Sims, my editor, Silvia and my beta reader, Mary.

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

Kiera: sort of, but for me it’s a side thing. I have a regular job.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Kiera: No.

Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?

Kiera: sometimes it’s easy and sometimes not.

Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?

Kiera: I always pick a different muse for each male lead. In my first three Marked For Love books, I used my two main celeb crushes, Channing Tatum and Henry Cavill.

Fiona: Any advice for other writers?

Kiera: I am still so green myself that I don’t feel qualified to give any advice other than write from the heart. It’s noticeable if you don’t.

Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?

Kiera: Dear readers of my books, you’ll never know how much you mean to me and how much it means that you love my stories. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

Kiera: Hunter’s Mark by Kimber White. It’s a wolf shifter romance.

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

Kiera: No way. I was reading from an extremely young age. But I loved animal stories.

Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

Kiera: Animals getting up to antics make me laugh. My finances can sometimes make me cry. Lol.

Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?

Kiera: I’d love to meet Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She’s had such an incredible life and reign. She’s an excellent queen.

Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?

Kiera: I love travelling even on little local day trips to somewhere beloved or to somewhere new.

Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?

Kiera: I love historical series like Outlander, Black Sails and Vikings. Also Marvel shows, Doctor Who, Buffy and so on. I’m very much a TV show buff in much the same way someone might be a movie buff. I have broad and eclectic tastes.I am the same way with movies, but I love Marvel and the old Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies the most.

Fiona: Favorite foods, colors,  music?

Kiera: I love Asian cuisines, Mexican and Italian. Also love French pastries. My favourite colours are dusky pink and softer tones of purple.I have a fairly broad range of music tastes. My favourite artists include Robbie Williams, Kelly Clarkson, Jimmy Barnes (Aussie rock singer) and Girls Aloud (English pop group).

Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?

Kiera: I would read.

Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?

Kiera: Gather friends and family around for a get together.

Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone?

Kiera: I’m not going to have a headstone. I hope to be in a bio urn and grown into a tree instead.

Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers?

Kiera: My website is www.kierajayneauthor.wixsite.com/website But I tend to post most news and info in my reader group, Kiera’s Cockatoos on Facebook. facebook.com/groups/kierascockatoos
