Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.
Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?
My name is Angela Gray and I am 29 and have been for the past 9 years.
Fiona: Where are you from?
Canada. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Fiona: A little about your self (ie, your education, family life, etc.).
I’ve been a wife and mother most of my life. I had children young and worked from home a lot of the time. When the kids were small I used to be a wed designer but as they got older I started reading and writing again.
Fiona: Tell us your latest news.
My first full length novel is being released September 18, 2019. I’m super excited.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I always enjoyed creating worlds for entertainment.
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Like yesterday lol Well and author maybe. I guess I’ve always considered myself a writer.
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
Encouragement from friends.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title?
The characters both have big ambitions and a lot of the plot is based on them chasing their dreams.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?
I’m learning more as I go but keeping sentences short but impactful, is and can be, challenging.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Typically, anything I write is very far from the truth. I don’t tend to write about anyone or anything personal.
Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?
I don’t have to, but I find I can let my imagination run wild when on long road trips.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
Designs by Dana.
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Not directly, no. Although, I’m sure the words would reach people, depending on what is going on in their life.
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?
J R Ward, Kresley Cole, S.P West and even though she may not be an author, I love the music she writes P!nk. Of course, these are just a few I love, I love so many more. These women are amazing with their stories. S.P West is a new Author that grabbed my interest, I read one of her novels then promptly downloaded everything else she has published.
Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.
I had a co-worker, who had to be ten years younger than me, encourage me to write and find a publisher. She read my first book that was a rough draft and loved it.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
Ah, yeah probably. Well I want too but I wouldn’t.
Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?
I learned how to be a better writer.
Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?
Probably Charlie Hunnamhaha
Fiona: Any advice for other writers?
Yes, don’t worry about criticism, they will criticise you anyway so may as well just do it.
Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?
I love you and you guys are the best!
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
I am re-reading AL Jackson’s Lost To You Series.
Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?
No precisely, but as a child I loved the Swett Valley Twins Series.
Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
My cat Abigail makes me laugh. Just about everything makes me cry.
Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?
P!nk, I love her. I think she’s real. So real.
Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?
Is drinking wine a hobby?
Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?
I like Marvel and DC or romantic comedies. Currently watching Supergirl while I wait for the new season of Grey’s Anatomy to come on Netflix.
Fiona: Favorite foods, colors, music?
Fav food, Chicken Fingers with honey dill sauce, color, blue and I enjoy pretty well all types of music.
Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?
Probably run a retail store and web design.
Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?
With my family, husband and kids.
Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone?
No headstone. I’m going to be cremated and my best friend and husband have to take turns with me so I can haunt them both evenly.
Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers?
