Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.
Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?
John Brugge and I am 43 years old
Fiona: Where are you from?
Fiona: A little about your self (ie, your education, family life, etc.).
I am a high school graduate and attend UNC University of Northern Colorado. I’m married to Bea (Thea Valentine) Brugge who is also an Indie Author and we have two sons, Robert 23 and Andrew 22
Fiona: Tell us your latest news.
My latest story White Lightening just came out in the Our Secret Nook Anthology II and I just finished my story From Dog Tags To Santa’s Bag for a Christmas Anthology coming out.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
Last year, because I bounced an idea for a movie off my wife loosely based on an investigation we did. She told me I should write it in book form and that’s where it all began!
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
I owe it all to my wife Bea who pushed me into it and I’m so glad I listened to her.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title?
I came up with the title from a cross of a song title and a TV show I used to watch.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?
I guess you would consider me Dark Romance. Fortunately I haven’t been given a project that I would find challenging, but I believe Sci-Fi would be it.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
A good part of the book is based on people I know, and one of the events is all entwined in the book.
Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?
On The Haunting of Helldorado Ridge travelling did help with the idea for that particular book, but travel isn’t a necessity.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
I guess that anybody is capable of writing as long as you put your heart and soul into it… PLUS working with a GREAT publishing company helps too
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?
Thea Valentine, Samantha Rae, Tiffany Carly, E.S. McMillan, Alexandra Reed, Judy Swinson, Laney Smith, Mia Jones, Kitka Buchanan, Marie Ahls, Fey Simmons. James Douglas Morrison is my favorite writer, because not only was he the main song writer behind The Doors music, but he was also an amazing poetz
Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.
I would have to say Sam Clingenpeel, because she had enough faith to welcome me to the Fiery Vision family.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
Unfortunately Indie Authors struggle too much to make a career out of it. So I will continue to write in my past time and hopefully capture the attention of my readers.
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
No, because everything in my book was exactly how I imagined it.
Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?
Yes! I have the ability to write as long as I set my mind to it.
Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?
There was not necessarily a lead in my book, but I do have a list of people I would like to have for the different roles.
Fiona: Any advice for other writers?
Don’t ever give up! Not everyone may like your work, but if you are writing from the heart you are already successful!
Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?
Please read my work with an open mind! I know my upcoming book Thou Shalt Not might catch a lot of attention due to its content, BUT it’s FICTIONAL!
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
Not Dead Yet by Phil Collins
Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?
Probably the Pokey Little Puppy
Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
Children and animals. They are so innocent they can bring a smile to my face in the best of times and a tear in my eye during the worst of times.
Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?
Jim Morrison, because he was such a lyrical genius!
Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?
I’m a Paranormal Investigator
Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?
Live P.D., Seinfeld, Last Man Standing
Fiona: Favorite foods, colors, music?
Mexican, Purple, Jimmy Buffett
Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?
Focus solely on my group World Paranormal Investigations
Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?
With my wife… She is my EVERYTHING!
Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone?
Once an A**hole Always an A**hole
Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers?
