Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?

Jennifer Wedmore and I’m 41.

Fiona: Where are you from?

Born and raised in Clearwater Florida and still live within a few miles of it.

Fiona: A little about your self (ie,  your education, family life, etc.).

I’m a mom of 3 kids, Gabriel is 18, Alex is 16 and Devyn in 7. I just celebrated my 19th wedding anniversary and am an Identical twin. I have a younger sister and all 3 of us are authors.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news.

I have two short stories coming out really soon. Sept 9th is a secret release but I’ll give you a sneak peek. It’s an EMOJI antho! Then Sept 20th I’m part of an Area 51 Raid Anthology, all the proceeds from that set go to a Veterans Charity.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

I’ve been a PA for about 6 years, even ran my own promotions company. But I officially started writing a year ago. Sept 1 is actually my 1-year publishing anniversary.

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

After working with authors for so long I never understood the idea that you weren’t a writer unless you didn’t publish or whatever insane reasoning. To me if you are writing you are a writer. If you publish you are an author. End of story. Lol.

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

Good old fashioned peer pressure! I’m close friends with a group of authors and we always joked about going to a BDSM club together. They all love that I’m the most Vanilla in our group. So they decided to write a set and pushed and pushed until I agreed to write my character’s story. That story ended up being Sexy in Black. Each author took a character and a fetish, the stories are all intertwined and mine is the tamest of the group.

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

Each color the authors chose represented a kink. We made them up of course but that became our titles. For instance my character was going to wear a black band which meant stay the F@$K away. Pink was role pay and menage etc. So it became Sexy in Black, Sexy in Pink etc.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?

I tend to cross genres, I don’t want to be pigeon-holed but I try to make sure each book has humor in it. Some more than others but I want to have fun with it.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Very little, except Sexy in Black. That story is ME. It’s exactly how I would act if taken to a club the first time.  The rest are all my imagination. (Especially the serial killer).

Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?

Not at all. I don’t really name specific places but I do some research on the computer if needed.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

I have a couple different artists I use. Brannon Jones of B Creative Designs and Lia Davis of Glowing Moon Designs are my main two.

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Not really. Maybe enjoy life, be willing to laugh. I really want my books to be an escape from the day to day reality.

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?  Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?

I’m addicted to Tijan and read everything she puts out. I love Annie Walls for her dark dystopian books, Gracen Miller for her heat. My sister Sheri Lyn writes amazing MM stories. Then my other sister Cassidy K. O’Connor writes sweet and I love having these amazing authors so I can find a variety.

Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.

Just one! There were so many I couldn’t name one. Each of the authors in the O My set completely accepted me writing a story even though they never read anything by me. They didn’t hesitate to see if I had talent!

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

Yes and no. I do it because I love telling stories, if I make a little money.. AWESOME and I would love of course to make more but I continue working as a PA and running MT Worlds Press as my day job.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

I don’t’ think so… Well maybe letting the serial killer actually kill the last person. I did a lot of research and my sister said hell no and made sure he was caught fast. (I co-wrote a story with my twin sister. Can You Protect Them? I wrote the serial killer and she wrote the cops/FPU agents.)

Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?

More than I want to admit about murder. For instance, did you know the heart could live outside the body for up to 3 minutes? I also know now how the best way to skin a person is….

Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?

Ack which book?  The serial killer… IDK, I kinda like James Spader or Kevin Spacey.

Fiona: Any advice for other writers?

NETWORK, while you are writing before you even begin to market your books. Talk to other authors, readers, and bloggers. Make the connections as often as you can!

Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?

I LOVE YOU!

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

I just read Ruined Between the Sheets a Dystopian Reverse Harem series

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

No, but in High School, I was big into Stephen King and historical romance.

Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

Lately ANYTHING! Bobby Singers’ death on Supernatural can get me every time lol.

Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?

Shakespeare just because he was amazing and so forward for his time.

Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?

Watching Criminal Minds or psychological thrillers. Reading that’s about it.

Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?

LOL, Criminal Minds, Mind Hunter, Sabrina the Teenage Witch. SUPERNATURAL!

Fiona: Favorite foods, colors,  music?

Orange is my favorite color.. as for food, I tend to skip most meals and graze but I love sweets. Music… not really lol.

Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?

Still, work as a PA and run the publishing house I manage.

Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?

Family and friends, hopefully, surrounded by laughs.

Fiona: What do you want to be written on your headstone?

Seize the Day, Carpe Diem has been my favorite quote since I watched Dead Poet’s Society as a teenager.
