Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.
Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?
My name is Courtney West. I am 29 years old about to be 30.
Fiona: Where are you from?
Fiona: A little about your self (ie, your education, family life, etc.).
I’ve had some college but mostly I’m a stay at home mom. When my daughter goes to school, I’ll go back to work.
Fiona: Tell us your latest news.
Oh I don’t know where to start. I have so many WIP’s right now. I do have two new pre-orders up on amazon. They are coming out at the end of July and the end of August.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I began writing at the end of thanksgiving last year. I’ve always wanted to do it. So one day. I picked up my phone and started in. Now I write whenever my kid is in bed.
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Once I saw the first page read.
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
I was really tired of reading about females that always needed a man to save them. So I wrote a book about a strong woman, all on my phone.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title?
I knew it had to involve rogues. It took me about 30 minutes to come up with.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?
I mainly write in first person because it’s easier for me to connect with my characters. Trying to write a book with multiple partners and sex scenes are the hardest to write sometimes.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
It’s mainly my attitude in character form. One of my books’ title was made by my daughter.
Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?
Nope. I have friends everywhere and we talk a lot. I wish I could travel to some of the places in my books.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
I actually have two people that have made my covers. But the one that has done the most is Nichole Witholder. She is amazing at what she does.
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Don’t wait for someone to save you. Save yourself. But if you need help. Please ask for it.
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?
Oh my… There are so many. Ivy Asher, Raven Kennedy, Poppy Woods, K.A Knight… I could name authors all day.
I love the feel of most of their characters. They have some pretty awesome female leads.
Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.
No one really. I’ve had people take one look at me and say “You’re a writer? I didn’t expect that.”
My family and friends are my biggest supporters.
My main beta reader Danielle has been the best at telling me what I’m writing is actually good.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
If I could get main streamed or at least a bigger following, definitely.
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
Rogue State was my first book and yes I would add a few more chapters of back story. But I can always make a second one.
Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?
Formatting to fit a certain criteria and how to make my own graphics.
Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?
It depends on which book it would be. For Rogue State it would have to be Milla Jovovich. For Daughter of Death it could be Chloe Grace Moretz and I haven’t decided on Sin… But I could go for Emma Watson maybe.
Fiona: Any advice for other writers?
Don’t let negativity bring you down. Always enjoy what you’re writing or it takes forever to get the story out.
Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?
Stalk me on Social media and thank you for readying my stuff.
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
I’m currently waiting for Gypsy Truths to come out.
Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?
Nope. I remember my first favourite though. Harry Potter.
Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
My daughter makes me laugh the most. Tribute videos make me cry.
Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?
My dad. I never got to know him really.
Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?
Reading, writing, listening to music and making up songs for my daughter.
Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?
Criminal Minds, NCIS, Bones, Great British Baking Show.
Fiona: Favorite foods, colors, music?
Italian food, Blue and anything except techno.
Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?
I honestly have no idea.
Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?
With my daughter and making her a few videos for when she is older. So she would always know I love her.
Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone?
I don’t want a headstone. Burn me and scatter the ashes. I don’t want to be in a box for eternity.
Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers?
I have a blog on wordpress but I hardly use it because I’m always writing.
You can however follow me on Amazon, Facebook, twitter or Instagram.
