Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?

I am Patricia Moore and I am 63 years old. I grew up in Chicago, Illinois.

A liitle about yourself.
I have a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Illinois. I am married to my husband Allen. We have 4 grown children and 2 grandsons, Duke and Antonio. Duke is 3 years old and Antonio is 9. Our cats, Midnight and Brooklyn rule our home.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news.
My newest picture book is LaToya’s Downtown Day. The manuscript was a winner in the Writer’s Digest Writing Competition. I was thrilled to win.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I have been writing for over 20 years! I attended a meeting with a children’s book writer. After hearing his talk, I felt confident I could be a writer.

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
In a college class, the assignment was to write a picture book. The inspiration came out of the necessity to pass the class.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find challenging?
I tend to write in first person since that comes more naturally to me. The marketing of the finished book is challenging.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
My picture books have a portion that is based on my life experiences. But my picture book, The Angel With One Wing, takes place mostly in heaven. that required my imagination to write!

Fiona: Who designed the cover?
Doriano Strologo, an artist who lives in Numana, Italy.

Fiona: Is there a message in your picture books that you want readers to grasp?
That life often has beauty and meaning.

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
Having a family makes writing a little challenging at times!

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you  change anything in your latest book?
No, I am satisfied with how LaToya’s Downtown Day came out.

Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?
I would like Diana Ross, to play La Toya’s mom. But I don’t think she’s available!

Fiona: What book are you reading now?
I started reading Tell Your Children.

Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
Sometimes my grandson Duke gets me laughing. He’s quite the comic!
I watched a Dog’s Way Home. Tears were flowing!

Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would like to meet? Why?
Pope Francis, he seems to be a very interesting individual.

Fiona: What T.V. shows do you enjoy watching?
I enjoy Shark Tank, The Voice, and sometimes Book T.V.

Fiona: Favorite foods and music?
I like Italian food and Mexican food. I like listening to Seal and Ringo Star’s song, It Don’t Come Easy.

Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?
Hopefully I would still be able to go to church. I might watch more movies at home.

Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live, how would you spend that time?
Probably praying and saying good bye to my family and friends.
