Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?

Joe Pranaitis, I’m 40

Fiona: Where are you from?

Whiting Indiana

Fiona: A little about your self (ie,  your education, family life, etc.).

I grew up in East Chicago Indiana to Mary and Leonard Pranaitis, I have an older brother Jack who lives in Ohio with his family. I went to two colleges the first was Viennese University and the second was Calment College of St. Joseph, the first was for media and fine arts while the second one was for business management. It was my parents that introduced me to science fiction by showing me the original Star Trek and the first five films as well as the original BattlestarGalactica.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news.

I’m currently working on my third book in my temporal war trilogy.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

It was back in high school when my art teacher gave me the assignment to create my own comic book since she had seen me read a ST:TNG comic and that is where my original series Infinite Stars was born and I’ve been writing that space opera since.

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Again that was in the summer after I finished high school and I adapted my two comics into a trilogy wanted to expand that universe.

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

What inspired me to write my first book was the fact that I had already mapped out some of the IS universe that I wanted to begin filling in the gaps between the years of the trilogy.

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

I came up with the title Infinite Stars after doing a little research, and thought that Stars would be better than Possibilities.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?

No I don’t have a specific writing style and working with science fiction  is relatively easy since anything can happen.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

I tend not to put my experiences into my writing and let the characters tell their own stories.

Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?

No I don’t have to travel but if there is anything that need to look up I just bing it.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

The cover of Infinite Stars: Chronicles Book One was designed by Jessica Tahbonemah

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Just that anything is possible

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?  Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?

My favourite author is Diane Carey and for the reason that she brought the first voyage of the original Enterprise to life. And I would say that Carissa Ann Lynch , M.D. Cooper, Carrie Vaughn , Jennifer Esetp. All of these bring something different and great to the table and I enjoy all of them.

Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.

My best friend David Shareef

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

Yes and I have a lot more books in the pipeline just waiting to be published.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

No I wouldn’t change a thing.

Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?

Yes that writing first person perspective isn’t always fun but I’ll go back to narrative in the next.

Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?

I would want Michael Dorn to play the lead.

Fiona: Any advice for other writers?

Just write and continue to read and write.

Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?

Keep looking out there is more to come.

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

I’m currently reading two the first is Doctor Who: Terrible Lizards by Jonathan Green and the second is Perseus Gate: Inner Stars #1 A meeting of Minds and Bodies by M.D. Cooper

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

No I don’t remember the first book that I read.

Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

A good joke makes me laugh, while what makes me cry is deep emotion being expressed for a love one.

Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?

That person would be Gene Roddenberry and why is because I’ve always admired his work such as Star Trek, ST:TNG, Andromeda, & Earth: Final Conflict.
