Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?

PA Vachon is my author name and I am in my 40’s (43 to be exact, lol)

Fiona: Where are you from?

I was born in Northern California, lived in almost every state (lower 48 anyway) and now I call the rainy Pacific Northwest home

Fiona: A little about your self (ie,  your education, family life, etc.).

I finished high school in the top 5%, went to college in my 30’s (didn’t finish ~ full time mom and day job made it hard), I have three grown children and my husband and I have been together for 26 almost 27 years…he’s my other half

Fiona: Tell us your latest news.

Latest news, well I just released my sixth PNR book and have three more coming out before the end of the year. I also write contemporary romance under a second pen name (that I try not to mention as to keep separate from my PNR works)

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

I have been writing since grade school. Inventing stories and putting them on paper for more years than I can count. My dream is to be a full time author.

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

I have always thought of myself as a writer, but it wasn’t until I published my first book that I considered myself an Author.

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

I had started the first book as a way to make the PNR stories I was reading better…I noticed the market was drowning in stuffed books…and I was reading the same stories over and over…then I wrote Mated to the Grizzly and released it…I knew this was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

I knew I wanted the word Grizzly in the title and I wanted readers to connect with the mated aspect of the book…hence the title Mated to the Grizzly

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?

Yes, its called being a pantser…I write what flows from my brain to my fingers…which is a challenge every time I sit at my computer…you never know what’s gonna come out onto the page.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Parts of all of my books are based on things that have happened in my life (either to me, by me or a friends life) for example in When I See you Smile Rebecca talks about throwing a coffee cup at her ex boyfriend, this happened in my real life but I actually threw it at my husband when he pissed me off…

Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?

I do a lot of online research..I don’t travel much. I have several friends that live in the areas I write about and I pick their brains.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

Aren’t my covers amazing? They have all been done by Brandon Vance at Brandon Vance Graphic Designer

Brandon’s Facebook link

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I hope that I convey that love is the greatest emotion and that happily everafters are possible…Trevor in When I See you Smile is based off of my hubby…that character is my most favorite, although all of my lead male characters have something of my hubby in them..

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?  Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?

DD Moss is going to blow your mind…I am currently BETA reading for her and her first book is going to be so good!!!

My favorite writer right now (it changes with my mood) is Caitlyn O’leary. Her Seal and Fate Harbor books are simply amazing!!! Her stories are just so ‘real’ and you can ‘feel’ every emotion and word.

Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.

My very best friend, Angel…she has been my greatest cheerleader and is always down to read whatever I write and give me her honest opinion, she doesn’t pull her punches which I really appreciate.

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

I do, my dream is to go full time within five years.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

No I wouldn’t change any of the book, well maybe make it a little longer…that is one of the things readers are always telling me. They want more story…lol

Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?

I learned that anything is possible..I had a small block happen and couldn’t write for a few weeks…I was on a deadline and I added almost 19,000 words to the book in one weekend…and so far no one has said it felt rushed (fingers crossed that they don’t now…lol)

Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?

I would really like for Matt Bomer or Liam Hemsworth to play Gus and for Emma Watson to play Memphis…I think she would be brilliant with an American accent…

Fiona: Any advice for other writers?

Don’t let anyone extinguish your dream. There are haters and detractors out there…don’t let them win…be you

Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?

Yes, so much. I love and appreciate all of my readers. Their support and love is amazing and so uplifting when I am having a bad day….they are why I write.

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

I just recently finished Vynn by Grace Brennan (I’ve followed her books since she started writing over a year and half ago ~ she does some awesome shifter books) and I read Sol by Leslie McAdam…she’s also so amazing at what she does…

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

I don’t actually. I’ve been reading since I was 3…and that was a lot of years ago lmao

Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

Really well written emotional books, some music and movies.

Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?

I have always wanted to meet Adele, I love her music and she just seems like my kind of people.

Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?

I read. I love to watch movies and I love horses (although I haven’t ridden in a few years as we live in the city now and not in the country anymore).

Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?

I love reality TV, I am addicted…but I also love dramas too…

Fiona: Favorite foods, colors,  music?

Coffee (I know it’s not food but it is my favorite thing that I put in my mouth….well second favorite thing, lol) Pinks and Purples are my favorite colors and I love almost all music from every era

Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?

I’ll be dead, because I won’t ever stop writing

Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?

Spend as much time as possible with my family living life to the fullest for that last 24 hours.

Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone?

I don’t know actually…that is an awesome question…I am not even sure if I will be buried. I might be cremated…who knows

Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers?

I do it is
