Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?

My name is Carla Dailey, but I write under the pen name of Carly Davis. I am forty years old.

Fiona: Where are you from?

Fiona: A little about your self (ie,  your education, family life, etc.).

I grew up in the city, but now live in the country. I have a twelve year old son and a husband I love. I have cats and one dog who are also my babies. When I was growing up, I was a preacher’s daughter and was sheltered. I graduated from Howe High School in 1998 and went on to go to college to study Business Administration.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news.

I just recently finished my fourth book in my Family Secrets Series and it’s set to release on October 26th.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

I started writing poetry back in 2007 and in 2012 began writing dark romance on Wattpad. Later, I started self-publishing on Amazon. I started writing because I originally had to write a poem when my grandmother lost the battle against cancer. Then, I began to write little snippets of several characters that later became to be full length novels.

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

January 2018, when I published Giovanni on Amazon.

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

I had several authors on Facebook asking me why I didn’t publish on Amazon. This is what inspired me to publish.

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

I came up with the title Giovanni (Family Secrets: Book One) because that’s my characters first name. I picked the series name because that is what my books are about. Family keeping secrets from each other.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?

Yes, I write first person POV from each main characters viewpoint. I find it more challenging to write in the woman’s viewpoint, but have no problem writing in the male character’s POV.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Everything I write is purely fictional. Although, some of the scenes is from real life experiences, but have added content.

Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?

I don’t have to travel to craft my works. Everything I do is done from home.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

I design my own covers.

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Everyone is capable of love if they just let it happen.

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?  Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?

Oh wow, I have so many new author’s that have caught my attention, but I do have a few at the top of my head. Zak Hardacre, Ray Sostre, Lylah James, Drew Lennox is just a few I’ve kept up with. My favorite author has to be Monica Robinson because she is an amazing author. She can pull you in the book with just one page and keeps you on the edge of your seat. She is the Queen of Angst when it comes to romance books with an alpha male.

Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.

Zak Hardacre.

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

Yes, I do.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

No, I would keep it exactly how I wrote it. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?

I learned love has no boundaries even if it’s betraying someone to be with the one you love.

Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?

Daniel Gillies since he is the muse for my main male character.

Fiona: Any advice for other writers?

Never be afraid to self-publish and don’t let some readers discourage you from doing so.

Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?

On October 26th, I’ll be releasing my fourth book in my series. Also, I’m going to be taking a break from my series to write a dark erotic vampire short story.

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

I’m not currently reading anything, but recently read Lost Boy by Monica Robinson. It was an amazing read.

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

 Charlotte’s Web.

 Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

My cats make me laugh and when I read an emotional book it makes me cry.

Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?

I would love to meet Monica Robinson, so she could sign my copy of Road to Nowhere and get a picture with her.

Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?

 My hobbies include:

Going camping/fishing

Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?

I love watching Peaky Blinders, The Ranch, and Orange is the New Black.

 Fiona: Favorite foods, colors,  music?

I love pizza, chinese food, and chocolate, but who doesn’t.

My favoritecolor is red.

As for music, I love a variety of music.

Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?

I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I no longer wrote. I would have more time to scrapbook.

Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?

I would spend every second with my family.

Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone?

Lilies don’t last forever, but angels do.

Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers?
