Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.
Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?
Angel Rose, 49
Fiona: Where are you from?
Fiona: A little about your self (ie, your education, family life, etc.).
I have a BA in Psychology, A MA in Special Education, A MA in Administration, and 85 credits in my Doctor of Philosophy in Special Education. I am married to my wonderful husband of twenty years and we have two beautiful adult sons.
Fiona: Tell us your latest news.
I have recently been offered a publishing contract with Kingston Publishing Company for The Forbidden Love Series including the new and final chapter of the series which I am writing now.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I started writing poems and plays as a child, but I wrote and self-published my debut novel in 2015.
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I think when I wrote my Forbidden Love Series.
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
My best friend at work said I should give it a shot.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title?
My husband gave me the title to my first book Broken Heart.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?
I don’t think I have a specific writing style other than keeping my readers on the edge of their seat. The genre is a difficult one to categorize my books at time. Dark Romance, especially, realistic fiction can be hard for some readers to read while others devour it.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
I don’t know anyone or any events in my life that contribute to the story of both series. They are completely made up.
Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel?
Before or during the process? I travelled to Cazenovia, New York to get a feel of the town. It was easier to write the story knowing the surroundings.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
I designed the covers for my Forbidden Love Series, but that will change with the new publishing company. Murder in Cazenovia’s cover was made by author Lilah E. Noir.
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Life isn’t always rainbows and unicorns. Another is, you can’t help who you fall in love with.
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?
I’ve never been an avid reader. I began reading books when I began writing in 2015. Jade West and Megan D. Smith are among my favorite authors. I just love the flow of their stories and how they kept my interest.
Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.
My best friend at work.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
Maybe in the future. Right now, it’s a hobby.
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
Not in my latest book, but I am redoing my first series. It needs a total makeover.
Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?
I love murder mysteries and I’ve found out, readers love it, too. It’s something to keep in mind when I redo my first series which one of the main characters is a cop.
Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?
I would love my forbidden love series to hit the big screen or Netflix. I would love Zac Efron to play Stone!
Fiona: Any advice for other writers?
I’ve been discouraged many times over the last three years. You just have to promote yourself, find other authors who are willing to give you advice and read as many books as you can.
Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?
Thank you so much for taking a chance on me and reading my books.
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
Right now, I’m on a hiatus from reading. I need to organize and get ready for my very first book signing in Staten Island, New York City.
Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?
Of mice and men was one of the first books I read and really enjoyed.
Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
My sister makes me laugh, she’s very funny. I can cry at the drop of a dime. Even a sad commercial can make me cry.
Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?
I’d love to meet Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Degeneres. They are both iconic and have open their hearts for people all over the world. Both women are amazing and have done so much for others.
Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?
I like to draw, but writing is my passion.
Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?
I’m not a TV buff. I like dancing with stars, and love, love, love the investigation network. Murder, crimes, serial killers, all that good stuff.
Fiona: Favorite foods, colors, music?
Chicken fettucine, lasagne, beef patties and chicken quesadillas. My favoritecolors are brown, black and white. I love all music but soundscapes and classical are my favorite.
Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?
I would draw and paint instead.
Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?
I would spend that time with my family.
Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone?
Loving wife, mother, teacher and writer. Never cry. Always smile.
Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers? Yes.
