Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.
Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?
I’m Sarah Stein, and 32 years old.
Fiona: Where are you from?
I’m from south Louisiana, but currently reside in Texas north of Houston.
Fiona: A little about your self (ie, your education, family life, etc.).
In May, I celebrated my sixteen-year anniversary with my husband. We have a ten-year-old daughter, and a fourteen-year-old son, two dogs, a cat, two sugar gliders and pet tarantulas. When I’m not spending time with them or writing, I’m reading or singing.
Fiona: Tell us your latest news.
Well, I’m currently getting ready to release quite a few anthologies that have been on the list since the beginnings of 2018.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I began writing many years ago, but published my first title about three years ago. I love writing and creating stories from nothing.
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I first considered my self a writer the moment I started plotting my very first book.
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
Hmm. Not entirely sure what inspired me to write it.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title?
I think titles are difficult to come up with. I usually don’t have one until the entire book is written, and even after I’m done with the synopsis. For Hearten Christmas, the plot was based around Christmas time, and the story starts off sad, but eventually has an upbeat ending.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?
If I had to say, I write pretty simplistic. The genre I’m more interested in writing is Romance, but I have realized that I enjoy other genres as well.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
My books are about twenty percent based on experiences or events in my own life.
Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?
I usually do most of my research online, but I do enjoy traveling and then writing books based on where I previously stayed.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
I have many different cover designers. Wild Dreams Publishing designed most of the anthologies I’m in. Sophia Peony designed the Sizzle Anthology, and Primrose Passage designed my White Stealth Clan series.
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
No, not really. I just want my readers to enjoy the story.
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?
Hmm. I don’t have enough space right here to write down every author that interest me or inspires me to write. To begin, Anne Rice, Laurell K. Hamilton, Tiffany Reisz and a few others have caught my attention since the beginning.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
There’s so much time I spend on writing that takes away most of my day, but even though it’s enjoyable, it can be frustrating at times. So, to me, writing is definitely a career.
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
I don’t think I would.
Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?
The thing I learned is that I’m not sure if I want to stop the series at four books or continue with more.
Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?
For The White Stealth Clan, Joseph would be played by Zach McGowan.
Fiona: Any advice for other writers?
As much as you want to give up because of many darn reasons, don’t quite.
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
I’m reading An Inconvenient Marriage by A.K. MacBride right now.
Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?
The first books I read were The Babysitter Club series.
Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
I’m an emotional person so I laugh/cry when the mood strikes.
Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?
I love to watch Hannibal, 13 Reasons Why, Family Guy, Futurama, Ozark, Stranger Things, and much more.
Fiona: Favorite foods, colors, music?
My favorite food is anything with pasta. Lol I love crawfish and most seafood. Rock is my preference in music. Evanescence has been my #1 band since I don’t even know how long now. Purple and black are my go-to colors.
Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?
If I no longer wrote, I’d feel panic coming on with so many thoughts in my head that wouldn’t be able to spill out onto the paper.
Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?
If I had 24 hrs to live, I’d round up my family and travel to Italy.
Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers?
