Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?

Syd Ryan, 43

Fiona: Where are you from?

Springfield, Ohio.

Fiona: A little about your self (ie,  your education, family life, etc.).

I have two college degrees, one in exercise science and nursing. I’m married and have 3 boys. I work as mental health specialist for teens.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news.

My second book Worthy is scheduled to be released on 07-12-18. I’m so excited to share this story with the readers.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

I decided to start writing in 2016. I read over 300 books the year prior in the Goodreads challenge, and thought I can do this too! I had a story in my head and I was ready to run with it.

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Great question.  For me, it was when my book went live on Amazon. I was like shit balls this is real.

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

My emergency room experience as a nurse. I’m most comfortable in an medical environment and I was ready to bring some of that experience in the form of a book.

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

It was so not easy. It took months, and finally it hit me. Book two Worthy is a whole different story. I saw a premade book cover with the name Worthy, and instantly knew to make my book revolve around that title.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?

No writing style at all. I believe the romance genre readers don’t accept anything less than perfection. My experiences with editors have been dreadful.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Medical experiences are from the emergency room in some type or form.

Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?

Not yet. I would love to use it as an excuse to travel.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

My first cover in its steamy format is by Sweet and Spicy Designs. Amazon would not let me advertise it, so I had the cover remade by Alyne Hart of Hart Designs. My second cover is by JM Walker of Just Create Designs.

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I want the readers to believe it is able to find your forever. Regardless of the path you are on, that you are deserving of a forever.

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?  Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?

New writers, nothing really comes to mind. My favorite writer now that is a loaded question. Sierra Simone, the woman is a word goddess. She is a history and literature buff and I feel like a little ant compared to her book writing.

Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.

My co-workers, a great support system.

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

I would love to write as a career. Currently, I have to work and unable to write full time.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

I did. I pulled Stronger in 11-17 and republished on 03-01-18. I pulled it and had editing redone.

Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?

The writing of the book is easy, it is all the other bullshit that is overwhelming. Marketing is a bitch!

Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?

Bradley Cooper would play Grayson, and Regan would be played by Reese Witherspoon.

Fiona: Any advice for other writers?

Just keep writing. When you stop writing is when it all falls apart.

Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?

I want them to read Worthy because it is even better than Stronger. I loved writing it.

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

I just finished Celebrity by Sienna Snow. Best political romance of 2018.

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

I believe it was a Ramona book by Beverly Cleary.

Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

I just watched the movie Life of the Party, and I couldn’t stop laughing or the 12 year old that was with me.

Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?

George Clooney, I can’t get enough of that silver fox!

Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?

My favorite hobby is reading. I love watching my kid play baseball, and loves a good shopping trip out.

Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?

I hardly watch any tv, because I want to read a lot. I love Scandal/How to get away with Murder/ Grey’s Anatomy.

Fiona: Favorite foods, colors,  music?

My favorite food is ice cream, I can’t get enough. Color is always PINK, PINK, and more PINK.

Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?

Easy…read!

Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?

Eating, visiting friends and family, read, self-medicating!

Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone?

Don’t have a clue! Momma/Reader/Writer?

Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers?
