Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?

My name is Ramcy Diek and I’m 56 years old.

Fiona: Where are you from?

I’m from The Netherlands.

Fiona: A little about your self (ie,  your education, family life, etc.).

My husband and I have been together since 1984, and together we have two amazing sons. They are 24 and 27 years old.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news.

My publisher wants me to work on a new cover for my debut novel, Storm at Keizer Manor.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

I began writing in 2001, after I moved to the Pacific Northwest in the United States

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

I don’t consider myself a writer. I’m a business woman and writing is my hobby.

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

I dream all the time, and my husband said I should writing them down.

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

At first the title was “Het Keizer Huis”, because I wrote it in Dutch. After I rewrote it in English I translated it into Keizer Manor. While working with my publisher,  I changed it in Storm at Keizer Manor.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?

Because English is my second language, my novel is uncomplicated and an easy read.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

My novel is a complete work of fiction, and so are the characters.

Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?

I read that Sidney Sheldon visited every place first before he wrote about it. If I could afford that, I would love to do that too. But for now, that has to stay a dream.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

My cover was designed by me, with the help of my publisher, Acorn Publishing LLC. Bright Light Graphics did the rest.

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

No, I wrote as an easy, relaxing and fun read, without trying to bring a message across.

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?  Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?

My favourite new author is Josanna Thompson. Her dedication to her novel and the marketing of it is admirable.

Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.

My local community has been supportive from day one.

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

No, my husband and I run two successful businesses, and writing is just my hobby.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

I already did by easing up on the curse words. 😀

My publisher also wants me to work on a new cover. They say my novel is so good, it deserves more.

Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?

Maybe I learned how fake the Social Media world is while promoting my debut novel, although I did make a couple of amazing new friends.

Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?

I’m not familiar enough with any actors to make a choice.

Fiona: Any advice for other writers?

It’s a tough world out there with lots of competition. Prepare yourself for that and be realistic about your dreams.

Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?

Please leave reviews.

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

Right now I’m judging for the Golden Rose Writing Contest from the Rose City Romance Writers  (This is the Portland Oregon chapter of the Romance Writers of America)

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

No, I don’t.

Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

I laugh a lot and cry very little. I’m a happy person.

Fiona: Is there one person, past or present, you would love to meet? Why?

No there isn’t. In our line of business, there are constantly people around me. My favourite time of the day is when I close the door and shut everybody out.

Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?

Hahaha, writing is my hobby.

Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?

My husband and I only watch Netflix. We can’t stand the commercials on regular television anymore. We just finished watching Dexter.

Fiona: Favorite foods, colors,  music?

I love food, colours, and music, and really don’t have any favourites.

Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?

My life is full with our business, our huge yard, traveling, family. There are never enough hours in the day.

Fiona: You only have 24 hours to live how would you spend that time?

In my husband’s arms.

Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone?

I’m not answering this.

Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers?

I don’t have time for a blog, and almost never update my website. I know I should, but I can’t find the time or the interest.

I do have my novel Storm at Keizer Manor on sale right now for $ 0.99 for the Kindle Version.
