Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?

Hello, I’m Renee Rose, Age 45

 Fiona:  Where are you from?

I’m from Arizona but I also live part of the year in New Mexico because my husband is a hot air balloonist and his work is season.

Fiona: A little about yourself (ie,  your education, family life, etc.).

I have a degree in creative writing and worked 13 years as a technical writer before I got into fiction.  I’m also a modern dance teacher and somatic practitioner.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news.

I just released three books this month, because I’m a crazy person! 🙂  Their Zandian Mate is a reverse harem featured in the sci-fi anthology Alien Alphas,; Her Royal Master, a contemporary BDSM novella and Alpha’s Obsession, a new release in the Bad Boy Alphas shifter series.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

I was making up stories with my dolls being dominated by hot alpha heroes way back before I ever started school.

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Probably the first time I won an elementary school poetry contest cemented it for me!  Nothing like giving a kid a ribbon to keep them striving toward something. 🙂

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

A friend lent me a romance novel for an airplane ride.  I hadn’t read any romance before that and I fell in love! (It was a Jennifer Crusie novel).  I decided I could definitely write the stories in my head to fit the genre.

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

I try to go for titles that give the reader an instant idea of what to expect.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?

I write dirty-talking dominant heroes with varying levels of kink. I think I’m good with the love story and moving a story along. I’m working on writing longer and more in-depth.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

I often put in little tidbits from my life or my friends.

Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?

I wish!  That would be fun.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

Various designers.

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Love conquers all. Strong men are hot. 🙂

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?  Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?

Aubrey Cara, Everleigh Clark and Alexis Alvarez are both writers who I think should be read more.

Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.

My writing partner Lee Savino!  We met a conference and I recognized in her a kindred spirit. We both want the whole world for our books. 🙂

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

 Absolutely.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Oh– I’m sure I’d change a million things. The hardest thing is to let a book go, and I always push mine out the door quick, which doesn’t leave much time to be precious.

Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?

Writing is often therapy for me. 🙂 As my characters discover how to overcome their fear or judgements, so do I.

Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?

 Tom Hardy!

Fiona: Any advice for other writers?

Write a series, use a cover and blurb that fit with the genre and release often.  But more meta than that– love your book.  If you love it, you give it wings.

Fiona: Anything specific you want to tell your readers?

I love them so dearly. They make writing so profoundly rewarding.

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

I’m judging for the RITA contest, so I’m reading entries, but I’m not allowed to say which books.

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

I know I was fond of Nancy Drew books as early as kindergarten. It’s a wonder I don’t write mystery.

 Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

Teachers who make a difference in children’s lives, the magic of the universe, the joy of love.

Fiona: Do you have any hobbies?

 Dance, natural healing

Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?

My kids and I love to watch Agents of Shield together. 🙂  We also loved Stranger Things.

 Fiona: Favorite foods, colors,  music?

 Chocolate and red wine!  Fuscia

Fiona: Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?

Hmm… I supposed I would be doing healing work.

Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone?

I don’t want a headstone…  but I guess I’d like to be remembered as magical.

Fiona: Do you have a blog or website readers can visit for updates, events and special offers?

I would love for people to sign up for my newsletter. They’ll get six free books and the word on special bonus stories and deals. http://owned.gr8.com
