Hello and welcome to my blog, Author Interviews. My name is Fiona Mcvie.

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name. What is your age?

Mikki Jo Quinlin Ensey Smith

Fiona: Where are you from?

I am from Indiana

Fiona: A little about your self (ie,  your education, family life, etc.).

I went to Ben Davis High School, I have an associate degree. I am married and have been for 30+ years, I have four grown children, 2 boys, 2 girls, 13 grandchildren with one set of twins.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news.

I have had a rough time with my first book, I paid out a lot of money for editing only to be ripped off, but I found someone, (Jesse Gilbert/AKA Raz T Slasher who was honest and he edited it and brought life to my story so now my publisher is pulling my book to change it out, it was rough and I almost gave up, but I loved my story so I kept at it, I have stories to tell but I stink at editing.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

20+ years ago the words Dark Secrets kept coming at me and I didn’t know why until I wrote it down, then more words would come.

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

I don’t consider myself a writer but more of a story teller since I suck at editing.

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

I don’t know that I was inspired by anyone thing to write just words haunting me until I write them down.

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

The words Dark Secrets just kept coming at me so I wrote it down.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style? Is there anything about your style or genre that you find particularly challenging?

I can’t tell a story before having a title, I come up with a title then build the story around it. no out lines, I just go with the flow.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

My story takes place on the west side of Indianapolis, the places are real and I’m sure some of which I wrote about someone has experienced.

Fiona: To craft your works, do you have to travel? Before or during the process?

I don’t travel to be able to write. I would love to travel.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

Xiamara Parthenopaeus did my cover and she set my Dark Secrets page up as well, she is good.

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

If I have a message in my book it is, just know evil wears many faces and you really don’t know someone as well as you’d like to think, things aren’t always as they seem and secrets can be deadly.

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?  Who is your favorite writer, and what is it about their work that really strikes you?

V.C.Andrews is my favorite but I have others.

Fiona: Outside of family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author.

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

Yes I see writing as an awesome career.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Fiona: Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?

I learned my story telling is getting better with every book which is an awesome feeling.

Fiona: If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?

That’s a hard question because there is so many talented people nowadays but if I could pick I would say my grand-daughter Lyndsay who is 16, she is trying out for a movie part for netflex.

Fiona: Any advice for other writers?

My advice for other writers would be never give up there will be times where you will want to but don’t, be very careful who you hire to edit your work there are those that will take you for a lot of money.

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

I am reading Chance Encounter by Susan Meachen.

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

My aunt was a book buff she bought me the book Little house on the Prairie the story of Laura Engals Wilder.

Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

What makes me laugh is watching people jump during a scary movie especially a predictable one.

V.C.Andrews, I’d like to pick her brain.

I don’t want a headstone, I want to be cremated and my ashes spread out over the ocean, I love the ocean.
