Name Houston Havens

Age Old enough to know not to tell my age any more.

Where are you from

Everywhere; born in Alaska, schooled in Japan and lived around the world.

A little about your self `ie your education Family life etc

As a retired working International fashion, print, and TV model, I’ve spent most of my life in the public eye. Because of this, there are somethings I don’t share. My private life is one of those things I like to keep as mine.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news?

I’m working to get the pivotal book 5 of my Psychic Menage Series out sometime this fall. The most exciting news on this book is I got Romantic Times 2016 top model pick (John J. Quinlan) on the cover of this book. It’s quite a perk to get this model – getting him is like getting Fabio in the old days of romance. I was so excited I had an early sneak preview of the cover for my fans and readers. I have a puzzle ( ) of the cover on my website for fans and readers to enjoy playing with while they wait for the book to come out. You’ll find the puzzle right below the large cover picture.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

I’ve always told stories. When I played dolls with my sister, we’d create plots that we’d take our Barbie and Ken’s through. When I got older, I started sketching pictures but as I was drawing them I’d see entire plots playing out in my mind…that’s when I started self-training myself how to write.

I spent many years studying the craft of writing. I have five completed romances I’ve never submitted because even though I thought they were awesome, somewhere deep down I knew I still hadn’t found ‘that voice’ published authors talk about. The stories I wrote were good, friends and other authors said they were great, but I knew something was still missing. A rush to market can kill a new author’s career and her only saving grace will be starting over under a new name if she goes to market before she’s found her voice.

Then one day, after talking to an AQ. Editor at Harlequin, I took her advice to heart and started researching what the published authors where doing with their words that I wasn’t – it was in that discovery that I found my voice.

Long story short – I wrote Psychic Menage and submitted book one Sinful Surrender to a traditional publishing house and Sinful Surrender hit Amazon’s International and National Best Seller’s list 6 days after it was released, each book that has followed in this series has done better than the one before it.

I’m pleased by the feedback of my reviewers and my readers. It’s heart touching to read the words of those who have enjoyed my books and it’s what keeps me doing what I do…writing original plots and different story lines readers truly enjoy.

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

It might just be me…but I’ve always been a writer. In my mind there is a distinction between a writer and an author.

Actually there are two types of writers; those who just enjoyed writing for the love of writing and professional writers like news and newspaper reporters and advertisers. Then there is the writer who becomes an author when s/he get published.

Believe it or not – hitting the International Best Sellers list wasn’t “that moment” I considered myself an author…I didn’t FEEL it until I held the print copy in my hands…THAT’S when I felt like an author.

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

I love reading science and new age. I love history and myths and mysteries. I should have been a reporter, because I love getting the truth of thing out there (Like the dangers of HARRP) All this is why I write and what inspired by first book.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style?

It there is a minute that isn’t filled, I’m writing. If I can multi-task and write at the same time, I’m writing. I live, breath and sleep WRITING.

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

Ah…my husband…he is the title maker.

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Yes, the whole series is a message. The Government. The Underworld. HARRP and cloaking technologies and weapons I have in the series are things the readers should be checking out. I’ve put facts out for the readers to go look up and see for themselves.

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

This series – Psychic Menage has a lot of information I gained through people I know and have known. I’ve also researched a lot of what they told me and was shock to discover how much is real. I fear a lot of what I’m writing about could be the world’s future.

Fiona: What books have most influenced your life most? a mentor?

I did have a mentor – he is solely responsible for who and what I was and who am today.

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest and who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Kayelle Allen isn’t a new author, she’s a best seller, but she has captured me as a reader. Her work is well-crafted, fresh plots, and deeply touching. She has characters and worlds so well developed you get lost in them. Yes, I’ve become a big fan of her work.

Fiona: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.

You’re not going to believe this but it’s a company called The Author’s Secret – they have been wonderful to me and gave me a light at the dark tunnel of self-publishing. Once I decided to leave the traditional publishing game, I was feeling lost and not sure how to do what I wanted to do. The Author’s Secret gave me that support…I’ve become very close to several of the people there. Now, Fiona…you said ‘entity’ so don’t be looking at me like that for this answer. 😉

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

It’s my bread and butter…yes. I wouldn’t put 16 hours days, 7 days a week without holidays in on a hobby.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

No. The only thing I’d change is writing the entire series before I put book one on the market – that way my readers wouldn’t have to wait so long between books.

Fiona: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

Like I said – my doll games were plays.

Fiona: Can you share a little of your current work with us?

I’d love too but it would (spoiler) give away the series…but the excerpts of each book I’ve given here will give nice hints to the series.

Fiona: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Making sure I give my readers the best story I can. I don’t want to disappoint them. They have touched me deeply with their reviews – I can’t let them down. My readers and fans are important to me.

Fiona: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?

Not with this series.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

The Author’s Secret. They provide all the services an author needs. I LOVE my covers…TAS works with me until I’M HAPPY – unlike the traditional publishing house that allows an author one or two suggestions that they may or may not make to the cover.

Fiona: What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Usually I find showing and telling my stories very easy except when the character refuse to talk to me. Then my life is #$%@! Or when the characters want to tell the story one way and I want to tell it another way….then it’s a major meeting until one of us gives in (usually me).

Fiona: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

LOL I’m hoping my books will enlighten the readers…the message inside, I’ve already learned….I’m sharing what I’ve learned.

Fiona: If any of your books was made into a film who would you like to play the lead

Several of my reviewers have said this series should be a film, a block buster, the next major scifi film of the year …. I don’t care who plays the leads as long as the actors play their roles well and get my hidden message out.

Fiona: Do you have any advice for other writers?

This is a hard business…grit your teeth and hang in there…like Hollywood…if you hang around long enough you’ll be discovered.

Fiona: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Yes. I ADORE YOU ALL! Thank you for all the wonderful reviews and know I think of you each day as I write the next book. You’re always on my mind.

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

I wish I could but I never read while I write. I’m not an author who believes you should read other authors in your same genre…anyone who reads my books know I mix genre’s (The Psychic Menage series has 10 Genre mixed) so it would be impossible for me to read that much and still find time to write my own book. Besides, I make sure to keep my work original and fresh it’s better to stay clear of other authors work.

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

Little Women (required reading in school)

Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

Fiona: Is there one person pass or present you would meet and why?

No, I live in the now.

Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone and why ?

LOL…that’s an interesting question. I don’t care what one would write on my headstone ~ it’s a message from those who bury me…a statement from them to themselves. I live each day as if it were my last…I say what needs to be said now because we never know when our time is up. Live in the moment.

Fiona: Other than writing do you have any hobbies ?

When I find time…walking in the mountains or desert.

Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?

The Alaskan Bush People

Fiona: Favorite foods / Colors/ Music

Veggies, Black, Jazz.

Fiona: If you were not a writer what else would you like to have done?

Nascar driver…I’ve wanted to be a racer since I was 6 years old. I had the chance to be the first female Nascar driver, but I was modelling at the time and I had someone in my life that refused to let me jump at the chance to make that dream come true.

Fiona: Do you have a blog/website? If so what is it?

Sinful Surrender Excerpt

Logan gave a thumbs-up then said to Fay, “When I want to get things done fast, I’ll have to remember to get you jealous.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Somehow you managed to get results none of us could. We’ve been stuck here for what seems like forever. Every day we asked to leave and got rejected for one reason or another. Then your sweet violet eyes turn green with envy because of the attention I gave that young woman, and the next thing I know, we’re out of here.”

“I wasn’t jealous. And she wasn’t a woman. She was a girl.”

“She was a woman and very familiar with the ways of men.”

“She was a tart and tease.”

“Darlin’, I hate to inform you, but the little lady was no tease. She was as hungry as a mountain lion, and I was going to be her main course until you stepped in.”

“Really? Well, I’m sorry I interrupted.”

“No you aren’t.” Logan smirked. “You were jealous.”

“I was not!”

“Come on, admit it. You’re not as indifferent to me as you claim, are you?”

“What?” Fay groaned with her attempt to turn around to see his face, but found it impossible harnessed the way she was.

Chandra finished getting Arlo strapped in and shouted, “Are you two finished scraping?” She motioned for Logan to push the red button. “Let’s go!”

As he reached for his button, Chandra’s sail filled with wind, and off she flew across the dirt with them in her wake.

“I’ll have you know,” Fay hollered so he could hear her above the wind rushing past their ears, “I don’t care if the girl was flirting with you or not.”

“Really? Then why did you force your way between us and shoo her out? I think you like me. Might even adore me.”

“Abhor you, did you say? Yes, you might be right.”

“I said adore. And you do. You just don’t know it yet.”

“Adore?” Fay gave a dramatic gasp and stretching her arms up toward the heavens and then addressed God. “Please, if what he says is true…get me to a psychiatrist. I’ve gone mad.”

He laughed. “Mad with desire for me. That’s why you’re jealous.”

“I’m not jealous! The damn girl had my breakfast on your tray. An-and while I really don’t care that she wanted to play peekaboo with you, she was holding my food hostage while you played boobie-gazer for an hour.”

He laughed again. “Your exaggeration of my two-second look tells me you were jealous. And I think it’s because you adore me.”

Fay lifted her head and let it fall back with force, smacking him in the center of his chest. He exhaled hard at her hit. He gasped, trying to catch his breath. “Are you crazy?”

“I don’t know, but I do know I’m not jealous,” she lied.

“I could have lost control of this damn thing.” He tapped her hard on the top of her head to make his point heard.

“Ouch,” Fay mumbled. “Like you almost lost control with that girl?”

“Lost control? Hardly.” Logan snorted. “I can’t even tell you what she looked like.”

“I’m sure you’d recognize her breasts. You got a good look at those.”

“Not really. I was too busy watching you with my peripheral vision to notice what was in front of me. I wouldn’t know the girl or her breasts if I passed her or them on the street. There was only one thing I was eyeing, and that was you.”

“Oh, God. You’re so full of it.”

“I think you find me irresistible, sexy, and adorable.” He emphasized the last three words with a firm tap on the top of her head.

She swatted at the air in hopes of hitting his hand to make him stop rapping at her brain. “It’s more than obvious, you need a psychiatrist even more than me.”

“Well, if you’re not jealous, why did you react the way you did?”

“Because…because I care about Drakker and Arlo. I wouldn’t want them to end up with a wife who’s a tart.”

“Oh. So a tart’s fine for me, but not for them?”

“I-I didn’t say that.”

“Yes, you did.” He sounded hurt. “And for your information, if we crash at this speed, we’ll both be dead. So don’t hit me with your head like that again.”

She’d squelched his talk about jealousy, but something about the victory wasn’t satisfying. She couldn’t deny he’d secretly become her hero the night he carried her to safety. Whenever she woke during that long ordeal, never once did she hear him complain. Never once did he ask someone else to hold her. Never once did he give up on her for his own safety.

Phantom Desire Excerpt

Romantic: Between Andonis & Chandra

She flashed that beautiful smile he loved and hadn’t seen in a long time.

“Remember when you fell in?” He chuckled at the memory. “Your face! The shock of the cold water—”

“Yes.” She frowned. “I remember you laughing at me just as you are now, until I came out of the water looking like a frozen drowned rat.”

“Hmmm.” He shook his head at the arousing memory of Chandra in a wet T-shirt with hard nipples. His cock stirred now just as it had then. “You took my breath away.” His voice rumbled out of his chest like a thunderstorm rolling across a dark desert sky. “I didn’t see a drowned rat. I saw the most unforgettable, sexiest woman I’d ever seen in my entire life.”

Chandra’s gaze danced across his face giving him a sense of calmness. Her eyes held an internal light he never noticed before. Her shining eyes and high cheekbones highlighted her beauty while her toes seemed to do a little jig inside her shoes, pressing up little domes from beneath the soft leather at the tips of her moccasins. Her antsy behavior revealed her belief in his words.

“I was hooked, you know.” His confession came so easily. This was how it should always be between them. She dropped her chin and her eyes widened as he continued his seduction. He took hold of her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “You know, you’ve been blessed with a sensuous body only Angels are graced with. So when you emerged from beneath the water, darlin’, you filled my heart with love and set my cock on fire.”

Her intake and release of air accompanied a soft smack on his leg. “Andonis.” Her dark caramel-brown eyes smoldered before darting toward the floor.

Her blush of modesty brought a chuckle from his lungs. Now he was feeling confident enough to bring her up off her knees and wrap her into his arms. Burying his nose in her rose scented hair, he took a whiff, enjoying the flowery fragrance before whispering in her ear. “Truth be known, the minute I saw your beautiful nipples standing up so hard and proud, I was in Heaven.”

She gasped, pushing back just a little from him. “Stop.” But her tone said, tell me more.

“Honestly, if I had died that very moment, I would have gone to Heaven a happy man.” He grabbed her hand and placed it over his thumping chest. Slipping her hand between the opening of his shirt, she toyed her fingertips over his smooth flesh. She looked up at him with a twinkle in her almond-shaped eyes. Her ruby lips only inches from his were so tempting to kiss, but he fought the urge. The fullness of them lured him with such temptation he found it hard to resist. It was too soon to make a move like that. “My heart still pounds when I remember how those incredible breasts of yours swayed. I lost my heart just from looking at you.”

She gave a shy smirk. “Where have you been?”

“What do you mean?”

With a smile that melted his frozen emotions, she poked her finger into his chest. “This guy. The man right here is the man who attracted me to you. Where has he been?”

“He’s been wondering why we never…you know…why didn’t we ever make love?”

Exposed Ecstasy Excerpts:

“Oh!” She reached for anything to steady her shaking knees, still weak from whatever flu she’d been suffering with. A halo of darkness surrounded her vision of him bending down to place the puppy on the floor. There was a sudden blackness cluttered with stars and clusters of shooting lights swirled in her brain. She swayed. Suddenly feeling his strong arms catch her body as her knees gave way. Her head rocked against his solid chest as he held her close before sweeping her up in arms so strong he probably shoved mountains across the land just for exercise. The next sensation was her body resting on the soft cot.

“Careful now.”

His gentle words caressed her ear as his sweet cologne, the same seductive aroma she smelled on the blanket, enveloped her. He must have given up his bed for her. That’s the only explanation for why his cologne was on the blanket. Could she turn this bad-man into a storybook knight-in-shining armor?

“Where did ya think ya were going? Ya want to be regaining ya’er footing before ya go hopping about.”

Why would he care what I felt like if he were turning me over to someone else? Is he going to keep me? The concern trimming his words made a shiver tingle down her spine. He seems to really care. Why was everything this man did, from what he said, what he sounded like, and even what he looked like having such an emotional impact on her? I know better than this. But even his elusive male scent affected her psyche. Something very powerful was beckoning her to succumb to him. Her friend and cohort, Makayla was right, Men are dangerous if you let them get to your heart.

“I’m fine.” Her vision cleared and she found her sight focused on the silkiness of his lips as he hovered over her. The urge to confirm their softness pulled at her enough to lift her head off the pillow to meet his barely perceptible motion toward her. The draw between them electrified the air as he paused just inches away from kissing her. He silently stared. Her clit tingled.

No! She panicked and dropped her head back onto the pillow, breaking the enchanted moment. He jerked back far enough to resume his fussing. She couldn’t help the slight. The little bruise he suffered now to his ego was far better than a broken heart for her later.

She pushed his hands away, but he persisted in his doting, covering her with the blue blanket and tucked its softness under her chin. She yanked the blanket down. “Will you—quit that.”

A part of her wished he’d stop being so nice. He was making this so much harder for her to keep her emotions in check. She wasn’t looking for any form of attraction nor did she desire a man in her life, and certainly no love. Love was pain. She had enough of that. “I told you…I’m fine.”

“Bloody hell, ya’er acting like I was trying to kiss ya or something.”

She recovered her hanging jaw from the floor and seethed, “Don’t deny it. You were.”

“Don’t be flattering ya’erself.”

She gasped. “Flatter myself? H-how dare you!”

“Did ya stop to think ya might be suffering with a concussion from the fall ya took in the alley? I was trying to get a look at ya’er pupils to see if they were dilated.”

“Is that so?” She stared him down. He averted his dull gaze. “Then why did you drop your head to kiss me?”

“I simply be moving my head to test ya’er pupils response to the change of light…not to kiss ya.” He stalked to the door. “It’s best ya stay here and rest.” The automated door zipped opened and he stepped out, saying as the door slid closed. “We’ll be docking soon enough.”

Tessla sat up, perturbed by his reaction. What the hell? Did he really not want to kiss her?

Intimate Betrayal EXCERPT

“Are you all right?” There was a keen glint in his Fae friend’s eyes as he gauged the amount of remaining whiskey in Jaden’s bottle.

“I’m fine.” He leaned back into his chair feeling as if he were sitting on a bed of fire ants.

“You sure? That’s a nasty bruise on your chin–”

“I said–I’m fine.” He was ready to smack the smirk off Sori’s face if he didn’t stop pointing out how much he was out of his comfort zone. An experience he wasn’t used to having. Calculated control was his norm. This? This edginess was extremely out of his usual suave self. “What do we need to talk about?”

His friend’s smile widened before fading into peaked brows of obvious confusion. “I assume you’d like to know why Shomar asked for your help.”

“I see her.”

“Okay, then maybe you’d like to know what she needs help with.”

“Isn’t that the purpose for why we’re sitting here?”

“It is.” Sori chuckled. “Seeing you once worked for the Underworld government as a research and file clerk, Shomar felt you’d be the perfect man to help Kindise find her lover.”

Lover! She has a lover? In all his surveillance, he’d never seen her display any form of public affection to anyone. His heart stopped for a nanosecond as disappointment rested heavy at the center of his chest. Maybe it was his Dirt Dweller upbringing, but he always fantasized about being her first. He shook off his regret as his dream vanished.
