I was born in the south but moved to the Midwest prior to starting kindergarten to Milwaukee, WI. But I reside in western suburb outside of Chicago, IL.

I am a single mom with a beautiful daughter and I work in corporate America as a Client Accounting Manager. My educational background is Bachelor’s in Accounting and Master’s in Accounting & Financial Management.
Fiona: Tell us your latest news?
I will be releasing & self-publishing my debut novel Deceitful- Playing with Fire anticipated for late spring 2016. I recently launched my online Creative & Social Media Company called Sistah’s Creative Media which focus on the entertainment and publishing industry helping to bring awareness to projects and building, growing, and expanding brands for indie film, indie actors/actresses, indie and national authors.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I have been writing since middle school. I had some great teachers that believed in my writing and my ability to allow my creative imagination to evolve thru my story telling. Writing for me has always been an avenue of healing and a tool that helped me to express how I was feeling when I could talk about something.
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
It really was not until about 3 years ago that I considered myself a writer.
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
There were a couple things that inspired me to write my first book. It was attending my first tele summit for aspiring authors with Nikki Woods. It was my blog that I started two years ago and the many authors’ that I get to interview on my entertainment blog called Sistah’s Place Entertainment. Many of the authors’ that I talked with shared their stories and their journey with me which inspired me to stop deferring my dream of a writer.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style?
I don’t have a specific writing style.
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Yes, they can take away that your past has a way to coming to the light if you are not honest about it.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic?
About 90 percent of the book is fiction, but I have taken a spin on some situations that I have experienced and inserted them into the story.
Fiona: Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Experiences in the novel are not based on anyone.
Fiona: What books have most influenced your life most? a mentor?
Some books that have influenced my life is one of my favorites that helped me awaken my purpose was Toure’ Roberts Purpose Awakening –Discover the Epic Ideal that motivated your birth. I have the pleasure of a couple mentor’s that have truly influenced my journey these last 2 years Marcia Wright and Nikki Woods.
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
I am reading Deborah Fletcher Mello’s Guilty Pleasures
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Yes, there are a couple new author’s that have grasped my interest like: Christian Keyes-Ladies Night, Felicia Malone-Ruth’s Awakening: A Love Story, Christine Patrick- The Truth about Awiti, Vivian Kay-Secret Places by
Fiona: What are your current projects?
Well, wrapping up Deceitful-Playing with Fire and then I will be starting the next novel in the series Deceitful-The Affair.
Fiona: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
My support outside of my family members is a group that I belong to that is informative, encouraging, and supportive.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
Yes, I can see it as a career but not just as an author.
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
No
Fiona: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I started writing in middle school when I entered the Martin Luther King Essay contest and won. My creative writing teacher Mrs. Cooper continued to push me when it came to my writing because she saw the gift in me.

Fiona: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
When I first began writing, it was challenging knowing when to end the story.
Fiona: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I don’t have just one author that I love. I love reading romance novels that you are drawn to the storyline that you can envision the scene as you read the book. Authors like Tiffany L. Warren, Reshonda Tate Billingsley, Christian Keyes, Brenda Jackson, and Toni Larue.
Fiona: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
This is my first novel and I am hoping to do some traveling towards the 4th quarter.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
I am using a freelance graphic designer for the final book cover on Fiverr and I used Canvas to design the first promo cover that you see.
Fiona: What was the hardest part of writing your book?
The hardest part writing was controlling the multiple stories for this series and other book ideas.
Fiona: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
Yes, I had to stop editing each chapter after finishing and just keep writing. But, I am so use to critiquing articles that I had to train myself to keep writing to reach my deadlines.
Fiona: Do you have any advice for other writers?
Read other author’s novels and keep writing. You must hone your skills and talents and learn how to take constructive peer critique of your work from seasoned authors.

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?
No
Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
A good comedy or play makes me laugh. Cry, something that is tragic, domestic violence, and crimes against children.
Fiona: Is there one person pass or present you would meet and why?
I would love to meet First Lady Michelle Obama because she is inspirational, empowering, and pioneer for change. I love that about her and her spirit to leave you with rich wisdom.
Fiona: Other than writing do you have any hobbies?
I am a great cook.
Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?
I love watching a new show on Bounce TV called Saints And Sinners, Empire, Blind Spot, Blacklist, Criminal Minds. I love film whether it’s action, suspense, drama, or inspiration like War Room.
Fiona: Favorite foods / Colors/ Music
I love Italian, authentic Mexican food, and soul food. I am a music lover of R&B Music, smooth Jazz, and my favorite colors are pink, purple, and red.
Fiona: If you were not a writer what else would you like to have done?
That’s a tough question, but I would say a Social Media Director.
