Name Dawn Sullivan
Age 40 years young!
Where are you from
I’m from a small town in Iowa, and I love it!
A little about your self `ie your education Family life etc
I have a wonderful, supportive hubby, three children who are my life, and a dog and cat who are spoiled rotten. I work full time, but hope to be writing full time by next year. I like my job, but I LOVE to write!
Fiona: Tell us your latest news?
I have a new book coming out at this end of this month! Woot woot! It is the second novella in my White River Wolves Series, Slade’s Desire. I actually started writing my RARE Series and introduced the White River Wolves in the first book. I loved them so much, that I decided they needed their own series of novellas.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I have had stories floating around in my mind since I was a young child, but I just started writing them down about two years ago. I am thrilled to get to share them with everyone!
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Hmmm, I would have to say that anyone who sits down to start writing their first piece of work, putting those stories to paper, is a writer right when they pick up that pen or start typing.
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
A couple of years ago I meant and became great friends with a fellow author in my hometown. If it wasn’t for her, and a couple of my close friends, I never would have had the courage to write and publish my first book. They inspired me, supported me, and are still there for me to this day.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style?
No. I don’t listen to music, or anything like that. I have to have it quiet when I write.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title?
Some of my title just come to me, some I have intense discussions with friends before settling on one.
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
All of my main characters are strong and loyal. It’s the kind of people I look up to, the kind of person I want to be.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic ?
If you are reading my Paranormal Romance-no very much is realistic. It is all fiction.
Fiona: Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Some of the things in my Contemporary Romance books are based on things from my life. For example, the town is based off a lot of thing in my small town I live in now.
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
Unfortunately I am not reading anything right now. I am writing, and haven’t had a chance to pick up a book in the past few days.
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
New to me authors, yes! I love Heather Dahlgren and Tiffany J. West. Heather’s Sexy Series is so much fun to read because it relates to our lives as authors, as well as models and photographers. Tiffany has some sexy rockers that make me swoon.
Fiona: What are your current projects?
I plan on publishing Slade’s Desire, the second book in my White River Wolves Series later this month. I’m also finishing up the third book in my Serenity Springs Series, Saving His Soul, and working on a new book, Syn By Night, the first book in my Club Sensual Series.
Fiona: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
I can’t name just one. I have had a lot of support from several friends and other authors, not to mention all of the photographers, models, and readers out there. I love this writing community, and am so blessed to be a part of it.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
YES! I would love to be able to write fulltime someday. Hopefully within a year, I can make that happen.
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
No, I’m very happy with the way it turned out.
Fiona: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I have always been an avid reader and loved to write. I can’t recall when my interest first originated. It’s always been there.
Fiona: Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Slade’s Desire is the second novella in my White River Wolves Series. Slade is the head enforcer for the wolf pack. His mate, Gypsy, was rescued just the week before the book starts from a Colombian drug lord. She has lost her memory, but must gain it back quickly because there is a sniper stalking the pack who wants her back.
Fiona: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Not in the writing so much. I enjoy spinning a tale and losing myself in the character’s lives.
Fiona: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I don’t have just one favorite author. I have many. Paranormal Romance is my favorite genre, though, so I would have to go with JR Ward, Christine Feehan, and Lara Adrian for the three at the top of my list. They have stories that pull you in from the very beginning and keep you entranced until the very end.
Fiona: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
No, I don’t travel very much right now. I hope to in the future, but the most I will do this year is a trip to a signing in Iowa in April and a photoshoot in Florida this summer.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
Kari Ayasha with Cover to Cover Designs makes my covers. She does an absolute wonderful job and is a gem to work with.
Fiona: What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Sometimes I get writer’s block. No matter how hard I try, I just can’t get my characters to talk. Then I have to step away from everything for a while, but it’s hard because I love writing so much.
Fiona: Do you have any advice for other writers?
Always follow your dreams. Never give up. I never would have thought I would get as far as I have with my writing, but I never gave up and kept following my dreams.
Fiona: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Thank you so much for all of your continued support. I wouldn’t be where I am today without all of you. I appreciate you all!
Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?
Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
My children. When they giggle, it makes me happy. When they are sad or hurt, I cry.
Fiona: Is there one person pass or present you would meet and why?
I would love to meet Heather Dahlgren and Tiffany J. West. We have become good friends over the past year and I want to meet them in person.
Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone and why ?
Always follow your dreams. I believe that you should always enjoy life, and strive to be the person you want to be. Doing the things that make you happy.
Fiona: Other than writing do you have any hobbies ?
Reading and writing are my hobbies.
Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?
NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles, Haven
