Name Krystal Fahl (Pen name is KL Donn)

Age 28…. Soon to be 29… sigh 30 is too close!

Where are you from Calgary, AB, Canada, but I live Edmonton now J

A little about your self `ie your education Family life etc

Hmmm I’m not very good at talking about me… But I’m a stay at home mom of 4 kids, been with my amazing hubby since I was 17 and now I’m living my dream as an author! Which is still pretty unbelievable!

Fiona: Tell us your latest news?

I’m releasing my 2nd book, Emily’s Protectors, in just a couple weeks on Nov 12th!

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

Oooo that’s a toughy! I started writing short stories in grade 6, mostly for school assignments and stuff, but then I fell in love with it, and growing up I wrote many small things. Then a yr and a half ago, I was searching for book, but nothing was appealing to me so I started to write a book that I would like to read, and well things went from there!

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Honestly? I don’t think it’s fully sunk in yet! Yes I’ve published, I have everything saying I’m an author, but my brain is still catching up from the excitement!

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

Life! I suppose. I needed a book to read, and so I wrote what I love, (Menage), and I fell in love with it!

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style?

I have no idea! :::snicker::: That’s bad right?

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

I had the title’s of my books before I even started writing them! I don’t know why, I just did. These girls, my girls, have a story to tell and I think they deserve to have their names shouted from the roof tops!

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Yes! Never EVER give up on life or love or following your dreams!

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic?

In Keeley’s Fight, (my first book) a good chunk of it. A lot is fiction. But the emotion, some of the events. That’s all me.

Fiona: Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

A bit of both.

Fiona: What books have most influenced your life most? a mentor?

A mentor? Lordy Jordan Marie! Her compassion as a human being is humbling, her writing is amazing, and she is someone I am blessed to call my friend!!

A book that has influenced my life I would have to say Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt, it’s a memoir about a young Irish man and the struggles of growing up in Ireland in the early 1900’s. A book that makes you thankful for what you have and to appreciate every day you wake up!

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

I am reading 3 actually, I’m bouncing between each of them, weird I know.

They are Maverick by L Wilder, Darkest Before Dawn by Maya Banks and Ropped In by LP Dover. They’re all fantastic!

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

So many! Baylee Rose, Lexi Whitlow, DD Wyatt, Alex Abbott, gosh I’m sure there’s more but I’m having a brain freeze!

Fiona: What are your current projects?

I am Currently writing my third book in my Protectors Series, Kennedy’s Redemption. But that book has a character in that has demanded her own series soon, so I’ve got more ideas brewing!

I am also starting a project with my daughter Savannah, she’s 10 and has requested I make write a children’s book. I have yet to announce this publicly, so you’re getting the news first! It will be a series of short books called the Savannah Series… Basically it’s going to be about my daughter learning to do things, IE: Savannah learns to do laundry, Savannah learns to cook.

Fiona: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.

Dessure Hutchins. She’s more than just a friend, more than family, an entire country divides us and yet she’s there. Always!

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

I do! It takes more work to create a book then I ever had to when I had a real workplace job.

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Yes and no. I would tell the same story, but I would add more detail.

Fiona: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

Grade school! I had a teacher that pushed us past our limits when writing and I excelled!

Fiona: Can you share a little of your current work with us?

I would love too! This is from Emily’s Protectors releasing Nov 12th! Please know this is very unedited!

Letting out a rough breath he told them, “That was Officer Rivera. She finally heard back from the police station in Lincoln and they told her that it was all in your fucking head. There was no evidence of anyone stalking you. Fucking useless bunch of tits.” He expressed, frustration etched in every line of his handsome face.

“Oh.” She said feeling almost defeated walking away from them and going to the bathroom to start cleaning up.

“Emily.” Cooper barked in such a stern voice her body froze mid-step at his command. “Get your sweet ass back here.”

Torn between wanting to listen and wanting to just think about her options, she didn’t move fast enough for him before he threatened, “Baby girl you have three seconds before I put you over my knee.”

Affronted at his threat she turned around glaring, “You wouldn’t dare!” She challenged.

Hunching his shoulders forward menacingly, he whispered, “Try me.” With a sexy ass smirk on his face and eyes alight with lust, humor and dark promises that he would indeed do it.

Walking towards them slowly, hands wringing in front of her, Emily stopped a foot away. Hearing duel growls come from them she shuffled forward a little more. Startled when they both reached a hand out intertwining their hands in her hair at the back of her head they pulled her forward until her chest met theirs.

Gulping, she looked up. And up some more.

“What’s happening in that head of yours woman? Shake any bullshit out right now that has you thinking you can pull away, not after that amazing show you just gave us.” Cooper told her sternly.

Looking at him sharply she thought about her reply carefully. “I… I just needed to think. This is overwhelming and I’m pissed off and scared and fuck!” She cursed at the sharp tug of her hair.

“Watch. Your. Mouth. Last fucking warning.” Dane growled menacingly at her.

“You just swore.” She pointed out helpfully, realizing too late she just sealed her fate. Fuck it all Emily, keep your damn mouth shut! She scolded herself at the look on their faces.

Fiona: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Describing a room with accuracy! Holy crap sticks is that hard! I can see it in my mind but writing it down is hard!

Fiona: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

I have a couple… TM Frazier, her books are so dark and alluring. They rip any and every emotion right from your heart!

Jenika Snow, I can read any over her books over and over. She writes in many sub-genres and every one is a hit for me! She stole many genre cherries from me, she was my Sci-fi author, my first MC author. I just love everything she writes.

Maya Banks, all of her books are so in depth and real, and when I read her I feel like I am the heroine of whatever book I’m reading.

Fiona: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?

You mean other than to actually write? Lol No I don’t, not yet. I may in the future.

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

Tammie Smith from Renegade Covers

Fiona: What was the hardest part of writing your book?

The first kiss. It’s harder than sex!
Fiona: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

Not everything is as it seems.

Fiona: Do you have any advice for other writers?

Write what you know, what you love. If you would read it, chances are someone else would too (Jordan Abbott told me that).

Use an editor! Find some really good beta readers

Trust your instincts!

Fiona: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you! For taking a chance on me, and any other indie authors you’ve discovered! Your kind words will always amaze me!

Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?

Oh gosh, Dr. Seuss? I’ve been reading forever!

Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?

A good book, a great movie, my children! (They each do both lol)

Fiona: Is there one person pass or present you would meet and why?

Martin Luther King Jr. Because…. I have a dream… Doesn’t everyone? I think that speech has influenced many a person, and I will always remember it when I feel self-doubt about anything in my life.

Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone and why ?

Hmmm I haven’t thought that far ahead, but….

Mother, Wife, Daughter, Infinite dreamer… Seems appropriate.

Fiona: If you were not a writer what else would you like to have done?

I have a degree in Child Psychology, I would have loved to have been a guidance counsellor to middle school kids. It’s where I struggled the most, and I would love to help!
