Fiona: Tell us your latest news?
I just completed the Strand Brothers Series—Bliss, the epilogue novella, released on August 25th, 2015 exactly one year since I released Branded, book 1.
Obstacles must be overcome to find blissfully ever after.
Lacey Kincaid is more than ready to be Mrs. Even Strand. Of course things never come easy. She finds herself facing one final challenge.
E Strand is fighting a hellacious battle to be the husband, the Master Lacey deserves. Can he conquer in time to say his vows? Will E and Lacey find their bliss?
This is not a standalone novella. Please read books 1-3, Branded, Bound, and Broken of the Strand Brothers Series first before reading this one.
Warning: This book is not a thriller. It is, however, one HOT read which contains a lot of sex, including BDSM, and graphic language. It is recommended for an 18+ audience.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I began writing in the summer of 2010 when a reoccurring dream refused to go away. Those characters, Aidan and Beth, became my first novel, The Stevens Place. In truth, my first thing to write that wasn’t required in school. Please note: TSP is about to get a new cover and title As I Love You, coming soon!
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Once I hit publish for TSP in 2013.
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
As before mentioned Aidan and Beth haunted my dreams, but I’ve always been a lover of a great love story.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style?
I write first person, mostly conversational, in multiple points of view. I consider myself a pantser. Yes, I write an outline before I begin a book, but it’s not ever set in stone. I’d actually call it more bullet points than anything.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title?
My most recent title Bliss is in reference to marital bliss. Like all of my titles, I let the characters and the story speak to me.
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Yes. Love conquers all and is always worth the fight.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic?
I do base my books on realistic situations and spin them into fiction, especially when it comes to the thriller aspect.
Fiona: Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Yes. Sometimes it’s myself. Other times it’s a person I know, whether close or in passing, or it’s someone I’ve heard about.
Fiona: What books have most influenced your life most? a mentor?
The Bible has definitely influenced me the most.
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
Text books. I am a teacher after all.
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
With my hectic schedule, I just don’t get the time to read much anymore.
Fiona: What are your current projects?
I have a short story, For the Love of Life, I’ll be writing for an anthology, This Beautiful Escape, proceeds going to Ataxia Canada…Coming this November.
I’m re-releasing As I Love You (Formerly known as The Stevens Place) soon. Very soon!
I have a new book I’m sorting out the bullet points for now.
And I’ll be writing Survival the first book in the Beauty from Ashes Series, a spin off from the Strand Brothers Series…Coming this winter.
Fiona: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
My best friend. She was and still is my biggest cheerleader, and the first person I let read anything I’d written. She encouraged me to keep writing and not give up.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
No. I’m happy with how the Strand Brothers Series wrapped up.
Fiona: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I never once thought I’d be a writer, however, I’ve always been a storyteller. Matter of fact, my husband was the first to encourage me to write things down.
Fiona: Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Unfortunately, I have nothing written on them yet.
Fiona: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Finding the time to do it.
Fiona: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I couldn’t possibly pick just one. I will say that C.S. Lewis and his faith being such an intricate part of his work is a definite inspiration.
Fiona: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
Not yet. But traveling is second nature to me so I look forward to it.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
I did the photo for Branded but had help from a designer with the rest of the cover.
Bound and Broken were done by an author friend.
Bliss is mine as well as the new cover I’m working on for As I Love You.
Fiona: What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Watching my characters make choices I wish with all my heart they wouldn’t.
Fiona: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
Yes. No matter what love is worth it.
Fiona: Do you have any advice for other writers?
Keep writing…even when you have no idea where the story is going. When you feel you just don’t have the time, do it anyway.
Fiona: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
THANK YOU! You make it all worthwhile. I’m blown away daily by your support and love hearing from you. ❤
Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?
Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
I’m emotional, which just means I come with tears: happy ones, sad ones, mad one, just because ones. The simplest of things touch me deeply.
Fiona: Is there one person pass or present you would meet and why?
My grandfather who passed away tragically in car accident long before I was ever thought of. I asked my grandma once why she never remarried. Her reply, “When you’ve had the very best and been loved beyond measure, no one else could possibly compare.”
Fiona: What do you want written on your head stone and why ?
Until we meet again
Fiona: Other than writing do you have any hobbies ?
Well, if being a soccer mom counts as a hobby. Spending time with family and long, lazy walks would be right up there.
Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?
I really don’t watch much TV. We do have family movie night in our house so anything family friendly.
Fiona: Favorite foods / Colors/ Music
Chocolate/colors match my moods/I’m a music lover so just about anything goes.
Fiona: If you were not a writer what else would you like to have done?
I’ve done them or am currently doing them.
Fiona: Do you have a blog/website? If so what is it?
I’d love to connect with you.
