Name Terrin, Pen name is Terra James
Where are you from? I am from Tennessee.
A little about your self `ie your education Family life etc
I’m a happily married, mother of two beautiful children. I’m an advocate for autism because my daughter is autistic. I was a Licensed Practical Nurse for ten years until I had to quit becoming a stay at home mom. My son also has special needs, and my children needed me at home. I have been writing since I was ten years old, so while I was at home with my children I decided to follow my dream and take a chance on writing a novel.
Fiona: Tell us your latest news?
I have my first book in the Immortal Series up for Pre-order. It will be releasing June 19th. I am currently working on the 2nd book in this series while I’m starting a new series. It’s a dystopian/apocalyptic series.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I began writing when I was ten years old. It was a hobby at first. When I was a teenager I started writing poetry to express my feelings. My dad was dying from a terminal illness that was military related, and it was easier to write my feelings than to express them verbally.
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
It’s still surreal. I don’t really consider myself a writer now. Lol
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
I’ve wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. Being a stay at home mom and watching my children playing so imaginatively, sparked an interest in writing something that they could read also. JK Rowling was a big inspiration to me. I watched a movie based on her life, and I saw how much she struggled. She inspired me to never give up. My husband telling me every day that I could accomplish this if I tried was very inspiring.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style?
No, I just write. I’ve never considered myself as having a style.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title?
The characters in my book are all immortal. They are trying to save the supernatural race. It just seemed fitting. Emmaline being the most powerful and their fate being connected to her inspired the title as well. It just came to me one day when I was writing. Immortal: The Chosen
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Yes, I want the readers to realize that as long as you don’t give up hope you can accomplish anything. When life gets you down, you have to dust yourself off and keep on going.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic?
It is a fantasy but it’s based on a few people in my life. The personalities of the characters are partly based on mine and a best friend of mine.
Fiona: Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
No, it’s all fantasy.
Fiona: What books have most influenced your life most? a mentor?
Harry Potter books influenced me greatly. JK Rowling is an amazing writer. Quinn Loftis is an indie author and she encouraged me in the beginning.
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
I just finished reading an ARC, Skilled by Stephanie Reynolds. I am starting a new ARC soon.
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
A new author, Lynn Parks, has sparked an interest with her first upcoming book, Revenge in Spades. One of her characters actually has my name. She is a good friend of mine.
Fiona: What are your current projects?
I am working on the 2nd book in the Immortal Series. Immortal: The Soulmate. I am working on a dystopian/apocalyptic book series. I don’t have a title yet. It’s going to be a three book series.
Fiona: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
God, he gave me the ability to write.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
I would love for writing to become my career, but if it doesn’t I will continue to write because it is what I love to do.
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
I wouldn’t change a thing as it was an amazing journey, and I loved every single bit of it.
Fiona: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I have always loved to read. I’ve been reading since I was three years old. I always wanted to be able to create a fantasy world like the authors I read did.
Fiona: Can you share a little of your current work with us?
No, unfortunately if I shared it would give away spoilers to the first book.
Fiona: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Yes, it is challenging to find time to write and juggle the duties of being a mother of two special needs children.
Fiona: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
My favorite author is JK Rowling. Her imagination is inspiring, and she is amazing author. She created a world of her own.
Fiona: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
I haven’t yet. I hope to do book signings in the future.
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
I design my own cover art.
Fiona: What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Lord have mercy, It was the comma’s. lol
Fiona: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
I learned a lot about pagan religion. I had to do a lot of research for the spells and rituals in my book.
Fiona: Do you have any advice for other writers?
Yes, I would tell them to follow your heart, dreams, and don’t let anyone stand in your way. Always take a chance and trust in yourself, you can do it if you try.
Fiona: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Yes, Thank you so much for taking your time to read my book, for taking a chance on a new author. If it wasn’t for you authors couldn’t do what they loved to do. Thank you so much for your support, time, feedback, love and just being wonderful people.
Fiona: Do you remember the first book you read?
No, I’ve read so many books I couldn’t tell you the first book. I can tell you that Poe was my favorite author in high school.
Fiona: What makes you laugh/cry?
I am a very emotional person, so a lot of things make me cry. My children make me laugh every day. I love sarcasm, and my husband has an abundance of it to make me laugh.
Fiona: Is there one person pass or present you would meet and why?
Past, I would want to meet my angel baby Jaden, and be able to hold her in my arms. Present, I would love to meet JK Rowling.

Loving mother, wife, daughter… I don’t know.. this is a hard question.
