Name: Konstanz Silverbow

Age: 20

Where are you from: Originally born in Butte, Montana but I’ve been living in Utah since I was 2 months old.

A little about your self `ie your education Family life ect:

As I said, I’ve been living in Utah since I was 2 months old. I have a LARGE family! And we own a business! It’s called Rockpick Legend Co and I’ve been working there since I was two years old. I was home-schooled my entire life and while I didn’t always love it, I will forever be grateful for the things it taught me that I would have never learned in public school.

Fiona: Tell us your latest news?

Konstanz: After publishing Only Half Alive I was inspired to revise and fully re-write the first book I ever wrote. I am excited to say that I am working on that book right now and ecstatic to be able to publish it! Sadly I don’t have a publication date though.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?

Konstanz: I began writing when I was thirteen years old. Why? I’m not really sure to be honest. My friend continued to invite me to the writers group and I just told her that my parents said I couldn’t go. She ended up taking the matters to the leader of the group who made sure I got to those meetings because she felt that I needed to be there. In the end, it was the best decision I ever made. I LOVE writing. It’s my escape! And with so many characters in my head, it’s either write or go completely mad.

Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Konstanz: Since I started. However, considering myself an author? That’s a whole other matter! LOL

Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?

Konstanz: I was at work day-dreaming about being a character in a book and realized it sounded like a great opening for a book. So I began writing and let the characters tell their story. No planning, no say in what happened, I just wrote.

Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style?

Konstanz: I’m sure I do. Do I know what it is? Nope! LOL

Fiona: How did you come up with the title?

Konstanz: I LOVE coming up with titles. I don’t really have a method for it, I just try to think of one or two, sometimes three words that truly describe the story as a whole. The original title for Only Half Alive was Bound to the Darkness. But when I looked that up I found that it could be taken WAAAY too many ways. So I found a more fitting, more YA title.

Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Konstanz: There is!!! Thank you for asking this! In Only Half Alive the overlying theme is Light vs. Dark. And Christina (the MC) is a creature of the darkness, which most assume means that she is dark, she is evil. But she isn’t. She has no control over what she is and she wishes to be anything but that. So no matter someone’s outside, do not judge who they are.

In the book there are so many hidden messages. I won’t tell you what they are because I want readers to find them on their own. But yes, all of my stories have messages within them! ❤

Fiona: How much of the book is realistic?

Konstanz: Not a whole lot. I use people I know as basis for characters and when I write a story set in the real world, I try to use a real place but often I do not specify where it’s at.

Fiona: Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Konstanz: There can always be a piece of me found in my books. Most often I use characteristics but sometimes I do use real events from my life.

Fiona: What books have most influenced your life most?

Konstanz: Oh there are so many! But probably the most influential one is Drawing out the Dragons by James A. Owen! It is a must read!

Fiona: If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Konstanz:  C Michelle Jefferies is my mentor! She has been helping me since day one, she has never given up on me and has always inspired me! I wouldn’t be here today without her!

Fiona: What book are you reading now?

Konstanz: I am currently reading Awakening by Christy Dorrity!

Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

Konstanz: There are so many! Christy Dorrity, Melissa J. Cunningham, Holly Kelly, and so many more!

Fiona: What are your current projects?

Konstanz: I am working on a few! Missing Royal (and the rest of the book in the series), the Eclipsed Trilogy (starting with book one: Magic Me This), and a super-secretproject that has never before been mentioned!

Fiona: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.

Konstanz: Just one? There are so many! If I seriously just get to name one, my bestest friend who could be considered family, Lizzy!

Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?

Konstanz: Most definitely!

Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Konstanz: Honestly? I would simply change how stressed I was while working on it!

Fiona: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

Konstanz: It was my escape, it was a way to live my dreams! *big smiles*

Fiona: Can you share a little of your current work with us?

Konstanz: I really, really, really wish I could! But because I just started re-writing it, I don’t have anything to share!

Fiona: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Konstanz: Editing! Seriously it’s the only part I struggle with! I occasionally get writers block but I know how to get rid of it.

Fiona: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Konstanz: There is absolutely no way I can choose just one author! I admire many authors for their writing, their passion, the hard work they put into every single one of their books!

Fiona: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?

Konstanz: Because I write mostly fantasy, it really isn’t an issue. However I *want* to travel fully plan to do it more often when I have the means to do so!

Fiona: Who designed the covers?

Konstanz: I have multiple cover artists actually! Stephanie at Steph’s Cover Design did the cover for Only Half Alive. The cover for Missing Royal was done by Ida at Amygdala Art.

Fiona: What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Konstanz: Again, the edits! Unless I have to kill someone I love. Then that is the hardest part!

Fiona: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

Konstanz: I have learned SO MUCH from writing! But probably the biggest lesson so far is to NEVER GIVE UP!

Fiona: Do you have any advice for other writers?

Konstanz: Yes! NEVER GIVE UP! Never let someone stop you from writing. Never give up hope! It isn’t always easy, and sometimes it is horrible! But if you are writing for you, because you want to, because you have to, then it will always be worth it!

Fiona: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Konstanz: Always! No matter what your dream is, NEVER GIVE UP! Dreams do come ture!

Fiona: Other than writing do you have any hobbies?

Konstanz: I do! I play the violin, I do jewelry making, I collect dragons, and I am learning to use medieval weapons!

Fiona: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching?

Konstanz: I love, love, love BBC’s Merlin, BBC’s Sherlock, ABC’s Once Upon a Time, NCIS, and Leverage!

Fiona: Favorite foods / Colors/ Music

Konstanz: Food: Any fruit! Color: Blue in every shade but I LOVE, LOVE darker and royal blue! Music: A crazy mix of everything!

Fiona: If you were not a writer what else would you like to have done?

Konstanz: I honestly have no idea. Once I found writing, there was no other option for me.

Fiona: Do you have a blog/website? if so what is it?

Konstanz: A website is in the making! And I currently have a blog! http://nothoughts2small.blogspot.com/
